Extensively-designed temporary propping is being provided to support the external walls and allow for a series of new openings to be created through the old stone/brick walls. Some of our completed contracts include:
Project: Truro Cathedral – Client: Carrek Ltd.
We erected scaffolding and a goods hoist to the two spires and facade of the West elevation. The access allowed craftsmen to repair and replace crumbling stonework and defective lead work in the church. The completed project is worth £900,000.00 and grants were received from English Heritage to support the funds raised. This work was part of a 15-year rolling programme of repairs to ensure the striking architecture of the building is maintained to a high standard. These spires were originally completed in 1910.
Project: Salt Quay House – Client: Kier Western
We provided the external and internal scaffolding for the 36metre-high new office block on Sutton Harbour, which has curved, glazed frontage overlooking the marina. The project was challenging as the working space was very restricted and part of the scaffolding had to be cantilevered over the water.
Project: Greenaway House, Gampton – Client: Cooper Construction
We provided external scaffolding and temporary roofs for the National Trust Grade II listed building which was constructed in the 18th Century. The designed structure had to be free-standing without any ties into the listed building.
Project: Student Union/Link Building – Client: Kier Western
We provided external/internal scaffolding and sliding temporary roofs for the refurbishment of the student union at the University of Plymouth. We also carried out similar work in their Link building and created additional floors.
